A path running between tropical planting towards a cottage porch

There is more here than you can see from the gate.

That is rather the point.

Wake up here

Twelve rooms, no two alike. Dade County pine underfoot and a sash window that still works the way it was built to.

02 / 08

Follow the garden

The garden is the lobby. Everything else is arranged around it - four houses, a pool, and a path that keeps going.

03 / 08

Come to the table

Food in the middle. Long tables under the pergola, and a kitchen you are allowed to walk into.

04 / 08

Meet at the bar

River House, most evenings. A glass of something interesting and whoever else turned up.

05 / 08

Find the bus

A vintage bus is parked at the end of the patio. You will have to come inside to see the rest.

06 / 08

After dark

The garden lights come on, the music starts, and nobody is in a hurry to leave.

07 / 08

The old Miami

What the houses kept. Archival frames, restored pieces, and the details nobody thought to throw away.

08 / 08

The people

Rooms are not the inventory. Locals, guests, staff, musicians, neighbours - the reason any of it works.

In real life

Some places are better in real life.

67 photographs will only get you so far. The gate is open.
